, plans to promote players
U-17 Indonesian National Team
to Indonesia U-20.
Nova was the Indonesia U-17 coach from February 2024 to November 2025. He took Garuda Muda to the quarter-finals of the 2025 U-17 Asian Cup as well as qualifying for the 2025 U-17 World Cup.
With this achievement, Nova wants his former players from Indonesia U-17 to be promoted to Indonesia U-20.Moreover, their ages are not too far apart.

“With an age difference of only one year, I don’t think there is any problem with the players from the U-17 national team from last World Cup moving up,” said Nova, Wednesday (10/12).
In the near future, Nova will call former 2025 U-17 World Cup players to centralized training.Recently the 47 year old coach held the first batch of Training Camp (TC).
“So as a result of this selection, we will join players from the U-17 National Team, and once again we will see which players are worthy of being in the U-17 National Team,” said Nova.
“We are still discussing it and later we will see, because once again March 2026 is on the FIFA Match Day calendar so there are several diaspora players that we will call.”
Currently, Nova has 20 names of players who are abroad. These players will be called up in stages to see directly their talent and quality.
“There are quite a lot, there are around 15 or 20 players. But we are still looking at [the players’ performance] through videos and their backgrounds. Later we will call them and see for ourselves,” said Nova.
The Indonesian U-20 national team is facing a series of important agendas in the next year.Nearby are the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup and the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification.
The plan is for the 2026 AFF U-19 Cup to take place in the middle of next year around May, June or July.Meanwhile, the 2027 U-20 Asian Cup Qualification will take place around September or October 2026.
