Indonesian U-17 National Team coach Nova Arianto opens his voice after his team lost to Zambia on the first matchday of Group H

Competing on field 7 of Aspire Academy, Doha, Qatar, Indonesia was forced to give up 1-3 by Zambia.
Indonesia actually took a 1-0 lead through Muhammad Zahaby Gholy’s goal in the 12th minute.However, Zambia was able to turn things around through Abel Nyirongo’s brace and a goal from Lukonde Mwale.

After the match, Nova Arianto explained that the defeat against Zambia was mostly due to the mental factors of the players on the field.
“At the World Cup level, if we don’t dare to play or are afraid, the situation will be difficult for us. Because we can see that there is a difference in the game in the first half and the second half,” said Nova Arianto, quoted from Antara.
“And I could see that in the second half my players were more determined. And in the end we were able to create lots of chances,” he said.
Nova admitted that he was disappointed with the results obtained in the first match of the 2025 U-17 World Cup. However, he also appreciated the hard work that the players had done.
Nova made a number of changes after the break by bringing on Adi Dimas and Muhammad Algazani from the start of the second half.Garuda Muda’s playing mentality changed drastically in the second half.
“In the dressing room I said, if you players are afraid of being on the pitch, afraid of collisions, afraid of controlling the ball, then our situation will always be under pressure,” he said.
Regarding the game plan, Nova considered that he had anticipated the speed of the Zambian wingers.However, the players were careless, allowing the Indonesian goalkeeper to concede three goals.
“Indeed, there was a bit of negligence, but I think it’s normal because now it’s at World Cup level. And if we make a mistake at one point, it’s a goal,” said the former senior national team assistant coach.
This result puts Indonesia in third place in Group H standings without scoring any points.Meanwhile, the top of the standings is controlled by Brazil, which is only ahead of Zambia on goal difference.
In the previous match, Brazil proved themselves to be the favorite team to win in Qatar after successfully beating Honduras by seven goals without reply.
