As many as seven naturalized Malaysian players can sue for compensation
FAM
after the results of the appeal in
CAS
(Sports Arbitration Court) completed.
This was stated by the President of the Malaysian Sports Law Association, Balbeer Singh, in a special interview with
Astro Stadium
.
However, Singh believes that charges against FAM can only be made after the results of the CAS appeal are completed.

“The final appeal is still at the CAS level. Only then can they take action against FAM,” said Balbeer Singh.
However, the naturalized players who were banned from playing for one year were also not free from mistakes. The seven players are suspected of ignoring the administrative process carried out by FAM.
“However, it should be noted that these players were also punished by FIFA for not checking the signed letters.”
“In other words, they don’t care about the naturalization process. All of this will be evidence that will be presented later,” said Singh.
Another solution, continued Singh, is that naturalized players can hold discussions with FAM to find a middle way to compensate for the losses incurred.
The FAM fake document case is currently in the appeal process. After the appeal was rejected by FIFA, FAM submitted an appeal to CAS.
The alleged use of fake documents in naturalizing seven players resulted in FAM being punished by FIFA with a fine of 350,000 Swiss francs or the equivalent of IDR 7.3 billion.Meanwhile, the seven players involved were fined 2,000 Swiss francs and banned from playing for 12 months.
