Zainal’s older brother, Nur Karim (26), revealed that his younger brother had experienced a critical phase and was unconscious for several hours after receiving treatment at the hospital.

“(The condition) is critical. So it was reported by the doctor that he was still unconscious, his condition was still dropping badly. From 11 o’clock to 3 o’clock I waited, there was no news,” said Nur to journalists in front of SMAN 72 North Jakarta, Saturday (8/11).
Nur said that his younger brother was stable even though he was still not conscious.Zainal also suffered burns on half his face.
“Then I arrived in the morning, it was 9 o’clock and it was reported that my condition was starting to stabilize, but I couldn’t communicate with him yet, I wasn’t conscious yet, because I wasn’t conscious yet. There were burns, yes, half of my face. Still unconscious,” said Nur.
Nur received information from the homeroom teacher that his younger brother was the victim of an explosion which was initially said to have come from the sound system.
“I got the information from that, from the homeroom teacher. Initially there was an explosion, the explosion was the sound system,” he said.
Nur immediately went to the Jakarta Cempaka Putih Islamic Hospital where her sister was being treated.When he got there, he saw blood on the floor.He was suspicious and suspected that this explosion was not purely a sound system incident.
“When I checked at the hospital, how come, ‘Wow, there’s a lot of blood on the floor, I see. Wow, this can’t be the sound system, right?’,” he explained.
Nur said that when he tried to talk to the school again about the chronology, he was told that the explosion did not come from the sound system, but rather that the explosion was thought to have come from a bomb.
“Well, then I asked the homeroom teacher in more depth, ‘Oh, sorry, Sis, it’s not actually this, but there’s a bomb,’ that’s it, something was found. The thing is. Earlier, evidence was found of an airsoft gun like that, as well as a package that looked like a bomb like that. There was also a package that was a bomb like a can like that, a soda can,” he said.
The explosion incident occurred at SMA 72, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Friday (7/11), at around 12.09 WIB.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri said that 54 people were injured as a result of the explosion at SMA 72 Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Friday (7/11).
Dozens of victims consisted of serious and light injuries, and were rushed to Cempaka Putih Hospital, East Jakarta.
“Initial data we received was approximately 54 people. There were minor injuries, moderate injuries, and some had gone home,” said Asep Edi to reporters, Friday.
Meanwhile, the suspected perpetrator of the explosion was also injured and is still undergoing surgery at the same hospital.
The alleged perpetrator is 17 years old.
