Paul Pogba
returned to playing on the gridiron for the first time after being absent for 811 days when AS Monaco lost 1-4 to Rennes in the French League, Saturday (22/11).
Pogba appeared as a substitute in the final minutes of the match.This was his first appearance after more than two years of absence or for 811 referring to account X 433 due to injury problems, suspension due to doping and extortion cases.
The 2018 World Cup winner received a warm welcome from the supporters at Roazhon Park when he came on in the 85th minute and received another round of applause after the final whistle.

The former Manchester United midfielder failed a doping test in August 2023 after playing a match with Juventus and was handed a four-year ban, which was later reduced to 18 months.
Even so, Juventus terminated his contract last November, ending his second spell in Turin which was full of injuries and other problems.
In 2024, his older brother, Mathias, was sentenced to three years in prison, two years of which were suspended for his role in an attempt to extort Pogba of 13 million euros in 2022. The chance to save his career came from Monaco who decided to take the risk after Pogba was able to play again following the end of his suspension in March.
Monaco were careful in preparing Pogba for a competitive return, but coach Sebastien Pocognoli chose to bring him on when the team was four goals down and playing with 10 men.
Abdelhamid Ait Boudlal and Mahdi Camara scored for Rennes before Denis Zakaria was sent off.Breel Embolo extended the lead and Ludovic Blas added a goal with a penalty, while Monaco reduced the deficit through Mika Biereth after Pogba came on.
