Pemda Banggai Islands apologize after hundreds of students poisoned MBG

“This incident is truly beyond our ability as a manager and person in charge. We are very sorry and convey an apology to all parties, especially to students and parents,” Zulkifli said in his written statement, Friday (19/9).
Zulkifli asserted that the incident had no element of intent in the presentation of food for students in Banggai Islands Regency.
“Field staff such as nutritionists and field assistants have been directed to prioritize the handling of affected students,” he said.
Hundreds of elementary, junior high to high school/vocational school students are suspected of being poisoned in several Puskemas and hospitals after experiencing nausea, stomach aches and dizziness due to eating fried tuna sauce.
“All doctors and health workers have been deployed in order to handle students. Thank God until now there is nothing declared critical,” said the Regent of Banggai Islands, Rusli Moidady
“We will also make observations or recovery for 1×24 hours, and if there are no allergic symptoms, it will be returned or discharged,” he continued.
Rusli hopes that children who are in observation can immediately be healthy and carry out activities again.
“We hope that children will be healthy again. God willing, in the future it will not happen again,” he said.
Based on temporary data from the Nutrition Fulfillment Services Unit (SPPG) Salakan Banggai Islands, Thursday (18/9), 277 students from SDN Tompudau, Tinangkung Middle School, Tinangkung High School, Tinangkung High School, Tinangkung Vocational School, and Pembina Salakan Elementary School were alleged alleged allergic after eating the MBG menu.
“Of that number, 32 students are still undergoing treatment at Trikora Regional Hospital, while 245 other students have been allowed to go home but remain under the supervision of health workers,” said SPPG Salakan Banggai Islands, Erick Alfa Handika Sangule.
