By assessing that the existence of the airport is a form of serious negligence that threatens the country’s sovereignty.Moreover, according to him, it is said that not a single government official can enter and carry out surveillance in the airport area.

“No airport is allowed to operate without involving the state. If there is an airport that operates independently without government supervision, it is the same as there being a state within a state. Things like that must not happen,” said Oleh Soleh in his statement, Wednesday (26/11).
The PKB politician also asked the government, especially the Ministry of Transportation, Ministry of Finance, as well as the defense and security apparatus, to immediately take legal steps and take firm action.
According to him, the existence of airports without state supervision not only violates civil aviation regulations, but also has the potential to open up national security threats, including smuggling of goods, uncontrolled mobility of people, and other illegal activities that are not monitored.
By stating that Commission I DPR RI will request an official explanation from the relevant ministry and consider a working visit to Morowali to ensure the situation on the ground complies with applicable legal provisions.
“This must be thoroughly investigated. The government must not hesitate to take firm action against anyone who operates strategic facilities without state authority. Sovereignty is a fixed price,” he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Defense Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that airports that do not have state equipment are an anomaly.He said that his party would immediately evaluate the problem so that the gap in economic sovereignty could be resolved.
“This is an anomaly, an airport that doesn’t have state apparatus in the airport has gaps that make economic sovereignty vulnerable,” said Sjafrie after watching the 2025 Integrated Exercise held by the TNI and other apparatus in Morowali, Central Sulawesi, Thursday (20/11).
PT IMIP response
PT IMIP Media Relations Dedi Kurniawan stated that IMIP’s special airport is registered with the Ministry of Transportation, whose management is regulated by Law No. 1/2009 concerning Aviation.
“Regarding this, we advise media partners to confirm this with the Makassar Region 5 Airport Authority Agency as the supervisor of IMIP airport operations,” said Dedi to reporters, Wednesday.
He added that IMIP’s special airport status can be accessed publicly on the transportation ministry’s official website.
Quoting the official website of the Directorate General of Transportation, Ministry of Transportation, the airport is registered with the official name Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP), which is located on Jl.Trans Sulawesi, Fatufia.
In 2024, IMIP Airport will record air traffic of up to 534, with a total of 51 thousand passengers.
IMIP Airport has special status with domestic use.This airport is managed by the private sector with classification 4B.
