In a press conference on Saturday (8/11) at Cempaka Putih Hospital, which is one of the referral hospitals for victims, National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo said that the authorities were still investigating the perpetrator’s motive for carrying out the action which injured a total of 96 people.

The authorities, said Listyo, are still continuing to collect various evidence and investigate every possibility that could uncover the motive for this attack.
“Yes, of course that is part of what we are exploring. Does he understand something? Was he exposed to content or maybe things that made him interested and also what was the reason for doing that? We are currently exploring that,” said Listyo.
Listyo said that so far the authorities have collected a number of pieces of evidence, consisting of several writings and powder which is thought to have triggered the explosion.
“We collect other records, including checking social media, family history, to collect everything,” he added.
Listyo said that the alleged perpetrator was confirmed to be a student at SMAN 72 and was 17 years old.
He said the alleged perpetrator was also injured in the incident.However, Listyo explained that his condition continued to improve so that examinations could be carried out immediately.
When asked about the motive for the alleged bullying experienced by the alleged perpetrator, Listyo said that the authorities were still opening up all possibilities because the investigation was still ongoing.
“That’s one of the things we collect as part of our efforts to uncover motives. This means that we collect related information that supports our process to support our process to get a picture of motives,” said Listyo.
The explosion occurred at SMAN 72, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Friday (7/11) afternoon.In total, 96 people were injured as a result of the incident.Some victims have been discharged.
Up to a day after the incident, 29 victims were still being treated in a number of hospitals.Apart from RSI Cempaka Putih, there are also Yarsi Hospital and Pertamina Hospital.
“So the total number of people still being treated is approximately 29 out of 96. And the rest went home yesterday and may be undergoing outpatient treatment,” said Listyo.
