Polda Metro Jaya emphasized that it would not reveal the identity of the perpetrator of the suspected bomb explosion at SMAN 72 which caused 96 injuries on Friday (7/11).
Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto said that the perpetrator, who was a school student, was still a minor or under 18 years of age.

This means, he said, that the police stated that the perpetrator was still a child in conflict with the law.
“We need to convey to all our colleagues that together we must protect there are special rights that must be fulfilled, namely protection of identity and special treatment for children in conflict with the law,” said Budi at the Polda Metro Jaya complex, Saturday (8/11).
Because he is still a child, Budi added, the investigation process also involved the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Regional Police’s trauma healing team.
“Investigating and handling this incident, the National Police involved KPAI and the trauma healing team, considering that the victim and those suspected of committing an act were children in conflict with the law,” he said.
Budi also appealed to the public to remain empathetic, not only towards the victim but also the perpetrator in this case.
“We appeal together to the whole community so that we can empathize, we are wiser in dealing with this incident,” he said.
The explosion occurred at SMAN 72, Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, Friday (7/11) afternoon.In total, 96 people were injured as a result of the incident.
Up to a day after the incident, 29 victims were still being treated in hospitals and the remaining 67 had been discharged.Apart from RSI Cempaka Putih, there are also Yarsi Hospital and Pertamina Hospital.
“So the total number of people still being treated is approximately 29 out of 96. And the rest went home yesterday and may be undergoing outpatient treatment,” said Listyo.
