The Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, do not recommend the Puncak II alternative route for vehicles to use during the 2025 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holidays for various reasons, including being prone to disasters, potholed roads and minimal lighting.
The Puncak II Alternative Route passes through the Citeureup, Sukamakmur and Batulawang (Cipanas, Cianjur) areas. This route is popular to avoid traffic jams on the main Puncak route.

Head of the Cianjur Police Traffic Unit AKP Hardian Andrianto said that his party did not recommend the Puncak II route as an alternative route after conducting a direct survey with related agencies such as the Cianjur Transportation Agency, Cianjur BPBD and Cianjur Satpol PP.
“We found that there are still many landslide-prone spots that have blocked the roadbed and the lane is narrowed at a number of points and the road has potholes making it difficult for motorists to pass,” said Hardian in Cianjur, Sunday (7/12)/
In the location survey, it was concluded that there were many landslide-prone cliffs that had not received complete treatment. This condition can trigger further landslides when heavy rain falls with high intensity.
Apart from that, street lighting is also not optimal because the number of lighting is still minimal. In conditions of minimal lighting and damaged roads, vehicles crossing this route are prone to accidents.
“There is already street lighting after we provided input in the survey at the beginning of the year or to be precise during Operation Ketupat 2025, but the minimum number is around 3 units every 2 kilometers,” he said.
The Cianjur Police recommends the Jonggol route as an alternative route when there are long queues on the Puncak route during the long Christmas and New Year 2026 holidays, because it is considered suitable for vehicles for immigrants who want to return to their hometown.
“We recommend the Jonggol route as an alternative when there are long queues on the Puncak Route, but motorists are asked to be careful and alert, especially when it rains heavily,” he said.
He emphasized that motorists are asked to be careful and alert when crossing the main Puncak-Cianjur route, because it is prone to natural disasters including falling trees. This vulnerable route starts from the Puncak, Cipanas, Cugenang to Haurwangi areas on the Cianjur-West Bandung border.
“Including the route south of Cianjur which is prone to natural landslides starting from Jalan Raya Cibeber to Naringgul on the Cianjur-Bandung border and Agrabinta on the Cianjur-Sukabumi border,” he said.
