Popemobile vehicle used by the deceased

He was the cardinal who proposed to Francis the idea of turning the popemobile into a mobile clinic.

Before his death last April, Francis supported the idea and handed it over to the Catholic organization Caritas, the organization leading the vehicle conversion process.
“We are grateful to have made a significant contribution to the health of children in Gaza,” said Caritas Secretary General, Alistair Dutton, at a press conference in Bethlehem.
However, it is not certain that the vehicle will be able to enter Gaza, an area that is still under a ceasefire even though Israeli attacks continue.
“As quickly as possible,” Dutton said, without providing further details.
The Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territory (COGAT), the Israeli government agency that regulates the entry of aid into Gaza, declined to comment.
Pope Francis used to use a modified Mitsubishi pick-up vehicle that was given to him by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas during his visit to Bethlehem in 2014. Now, the open rear of the car has been closed and has become a child care room.
Caritas Sweden Secretary General Peter Brune said the clinic could treat as many as 200 children a day.
