Risdiyanto said the discovery of ammunition and magazines began when a resident was building the foundation of his house’s kitchen on Wednesday (29/10).
“The resident found a pile of plastic mixed with soil under the building. After opening it, the contents contained dozens of ammunition and two weapon magazines which were thought to have been abandoned for a long time,” he said.
After finding the object, said Risdiyanto, the residents then checked the contents of the package and recalculated all the findings before contacting Bhabinkamtibmas, Mapane Village.
“The police immediately moved to the location to secure evidence and take it to the Poso Pesisir Police Headquarters,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Risdiyanto said that the discovery of homemade firearms started when residents were cleaning out the warehouse left by their parents. Then they found a sack hidden under a pile of wood and broken furniture, Sunday (26/10).
“The sack contained two homemade gun barrels and one iron butt that was damaged and rusty,” he explained.
The Poso Pesisir Police Chief appreciated the handover of dangerous goods by residents. This is said to be inseparable from the efforts of all parties, especially the Madago Raya Task Force and the Poso Pesisir Police through routine public security and order appeals.
“We appeal to members of the public who still have dangerous materials or know about them to immediately hand them over to the police in order to maintain security stability in Poso Regency,” he concluded.
