“Basically, there is no problem because we have to pay maybe Rp. 1.2 trillion per year, but the benefits are reducing traffic jams, reducing pollution, speeding up travel, all of this must be calculated,” said Prabowo at Tanah Abang Baru Station, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
Prabowo emphasized that Indonesia is a large country so it is capable of solving these problems.
“The money is there,” he said.
He also emphasized that the most important thing about Whoosh was the transfer of technology from China to Indonesia.

Whoosh’s debt has recently become a polemic.Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa stated that he would not use the APBN to pay the project debt.
He asked Danantara to handle the debt.Danantara Chief Operating Officer (COO) Dony Oskaria emphasized that representatives of the Indonesian Government will soon go to China to negotiate the Whoosh debt.
The Jakarta-Bandung Whoosh Fast Train Project is managed by PT KCIC (Indonesia China Fast Train).As much as 75 percent of the funding for this project came from China Development Bank (CDB) loan funds.The remaining 25 percent comes from the consortium’s own equity/funds.
Separately, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi said that Prabowo had issued special orders to the Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa and also Danantara regarding the KCJB Whoosh debt.
He said Prabowo gave the order at a limited meeting with the economic team.
Pras said Prabowo asked Purbaya et al.looking for ways and looking at various options to resolve the fast train debt without shock to the economy.
