Prabowo said that PT KAI (Persero) President Director Bobby Rasyidin reported that KAI needed a budget of IDR 4.8 trillion to add a series of KRL carriages.
However, Prabowo said he would allocate a budget of up to IDR 5 trillion so that the addition could provide benefits to the wider community.

“He proposed a total of IDR 4.8 trillion. Yes, I agree, in fact I will allocate not IDR 4.8 trillion, but IDR 5 trillion. If it is for the masses, I have no hesitation,” said Prabowo at the inauguration of Tanah Abang Baru Station and review of KRL Commuter Line services, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
He believes that most people feel the benefits of trains.Therefore, Prabowo intends to expand KAI’s service coverage through additional train carriages.
Apart from that, Prabowo is targeting KAI to have 30 new train sets available within the next year.
“This is a must for one year. These are the people who are witnesses. So, later there will be an additional 30 new series. I also tried it, it’s clean, comfortable, (there is) AC,” said Prabowo.
On that occasion, Prabowo emphasized that the development of public transportation was not just a matter of profit and loss.He said the government was responsible for providing transportation services for the community.
According to Prabowo, subsidies or
public service obligation
(PSO) is a form of state presence providing affordable transportation for the wider community.
“Earlier, the Minister of Transportation (Dudy Purwagandhi) said that all our trains are 60 percent subsidized by the government, the people pay 20 percent, yes, this is the presence of the state,” said Prabowo at Tanah Abang Baru Station, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).
