He invited all parties to look at public transportation in terms of its benefits, whether it is beneficial for the public or not.Throughout the world there are also Public Service Obligations (PSO) which are subsidies from the government for public services, including public transportation.
“Whoosh, that’s all public transport, all over the world, don’t count the profits and losses, don’t count the benefits for the people. It’s like that all over the world. This is called public service obligations (PSO),” said Prabowo at Tanah Abang Baru Station, Jakarta, Tuesday (4/11).

Prabowo said the government currently subsidizes 60 percent of all train costs in Indonesia, while the people pay the remaining 20 percent. He said this was a form of state presence towards the public.
“Where does the money come from? The money comes from people’s money, from taxes, from state assets, that’s why we have to prevent all leaks,” he said.
Regarding the Whoosh polemic, Prabowo stated that he was ready to take responsibility for it as President of the Republic of Indonesia. He asked all parties not to worry about the polemic which is currently attracting public attention.
Prabowo is optimistic that the Whoosh project debt polemic can be resolved. He has studied the problems that have recently been in the public spotlight and is confident that he can overcome these problems.
“So don’t worry, I’ve told you everything, I’ve studied the problem. Indonesia is capable and it’s all natural,” he said.
Whoosh was built with a total investment value of US$7.2 billion or equivalent to IDR 116.54 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 16,186 per US dollar). This figure includes a cost overrun of US$1.21 billion from the initial investment value set at US$6.05 billion.
Of the total investment cost of US$7.2 billion, 75 percent of it came from China Development Bank (CDB) loans.
Meanwhile, 25 percent comes from shareholder capital contributions, namely a combination of several BUMNs from PT Pilar Sinergi BUMN Indonesia (PSBI) at 60 percent and Beijing Yawan HSR Co Ltd at 40 percent.
