because Indonesia is in a country that is prone to disasters.
He conveyed this when giving a speech at the peak event of the 61st anniversary of the Golongan Karya Party (Golkar) at Istora Senayan, Friday (5/12).
Initially, Prabowo said there were 50 helicopters currently helping in the Sumatra disaster area.He continued by saying that he had brought in 5 helicopters this week

“50 helicopters are currently moving in the disaster area. This week, new helicopters arrived, 5 helicopters arrived this week. And they continue to arrive,” he said.
“A few months ago we brought in 5 newest Hercules, the C-130J. How many weeks ago we brought in the Airbus A400,” he continued.
Furthermore, Prabowo also ordered to buy 200 helicopters which will start early next year.
“And I have ordered that from January next year onwards, we will bring 200 helicopters to the Republic of Indonesia,”
Not only that, Prabowo also took a swipe at the “smart elite” who he said mocked his leadership for always buying lots of defense equipment.
“There are indeed parts of our people, especially our elite, who are smart and think they are very clever, who are always sarcastic. Always like to make fun of their own government, of their own leaders. Why did Prabowo buy lots of defense equipment? For what?”said Prabowo.
Prabowo stated the reason that these defense equipment were purchased because Indonesia is in “The Ring of Fire”, which makes Indonesia prone to disasters.
“Brothers and sisters, our nation is in something called a circle of fire, The Ring of Fire. Natural disasters are part of what we have to face, challenges. For this reason, we must be ready to face even the worst situations, we must be ready,” he said.
