This development is not only about creating electric vehicles, but also building a reliable technology ecosystem in the country.Pindad’s role is needed in this national car project.
“PT. Pindad has a military version that can be converted into a civilian one like the Hummer brand, also as part of the assignment,” said Verly.
Verly explained that the model developed by Pindad will have the tough capabilities typical of military vehicles, but can still be adapted to the needs of the general public.
It is believed that the conversion concept will attract market interest, especially those who want a vehicle with high performance and strong character.
“So it is hoped that there will be two models for the Indonesian and regional markets which are quite attractive,” he said.
It is not impossible that this collaboration will result in Indonesia having a national car that is not only proud in terms of technology, but highly competitive on the international stage.
Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang previously confirmed the automotive industry’s readiness to welcome this national car project.Agus admitted that he had met directly with the company that would implement the program.
“Oh, the industry is ready, I’ve also talked to the company. The brand already exists, and I’ve also met the company, but maybe I can’t open it now or can’t show it to the public now, but actually everything is ready,” said Agus.
