Pramono also said that almost all the trees in all areas of Jakarta had been trimmed, although this effort was not always sufficient.
“So actually almost all areas have done it, but sometimes it’s not enough. And we don’t know that the tornado that happened yesterday could be in Ancol, then also in Sunda Kelapa, we don’t know its direction there,” he said.
“But once again, Jakarta has prepared itself, anticipated, including if, as predicted by the BMKG, there will be a tornado and so on,” continued Pramono.
Previously, strong winds had been blowing in the Jakarta area for the last few days.In response to this, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) confirmed the cause of this incident.
According to BMKG, the cause of the strong winds that occur in Jakarta and its surroundings is related to the peak of the rainy season and the latest atmospheric dynamics.
“The recent strong winds in Jakarta are related to the peak of the rainy season and regional atmospheric dynamics. BMKG predicts that strong wind conditions have the potential to continue until mid-December 2025, along with heavy rain and extreme weather in Jabodetabek,” said Guswanto, Deputy for Meteorology at BMKG, when contacted by hitclubapk3Indonesia.com, Monday (15/12).
BMKG also estimates that extreme weather in the form of heavy rain and strong winds will continue to occur until December 21 2025 in the Jabodetabek area.
“West Java, including Jabodetabek, is currently recording a high frequency of extreme rain and strong winds compared to other regions,” said Guswanto.
He added that wind intensity is expected to decrease in mid-December.However, the potential for heavy rain and local winds will continue until the end of the month.
“After mid-December, the wind intensity is expected to gradually decrease, but there is still the potential for heavy rain and local winds until the end of the month, especially before Christmas and New Year,” he added.
