He explained that the use of dirt bikes is considered the most effective for penetrating narrow, muddy and hilly paths that cannot be passed by four-wheeled vehicles due to infrastructure damage in Aceh.
Apart from Aceh, the government also continues to monitor and distribute aid to disaster-affected residents in North Sumatra and West Sumatra through coordination across ministries and institutions.
According to him, this is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s direct direction for all ministries and institutions to mobilize national resources optimally in handling disasters.
“The President’s instructions are clear, all levels are asked to continue working non-stop to speed up disaster management until people’s lives recover,” he said.
On that occasion, Pratikno also appealed to people in the affected areas to continue to increase their vigilance because the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicted that rain could still occur in the next few days, even with light intensity.
Based on reports compiled by the BNPB Operations Control Center as of Thursday afternoon, the flash flood and landslide disasters in Aceh, West Sumatra and North Sumatra resulted in 489,864 people being displaced in a number of evacuation points spread across the affected areas.
Meanwhile, there were 1,135 deaths, an increase of six people from the previous number.There were 173 victims missing during the search, or one less person than before.
In Aceh, 503 people died, 31 people disappeared during the search and 466,667 people were displaced.
In North Sumatra, 371 people died, 70 people were missing while searching, and 13,262 people were displaced.Then in West Sumatra, 261 people died, 62 people disappeared and 9,935 people were displaced.
