Gusti Purbaya was the youngest son of PB XIII and the empress of GKR Pakubuwana (or KRAy Pradapaningsih).He was born in Surakarta, 26 September 2002 and had the birth name Gusti Raden Mas Suryo Aryo Mustiko.
He grew up in a palace environment that was strong with Javanese customs and spiritual values since childhood.His personality is known to be intelligent, quiet, authoritative, and has a strong interest in Javanese culture.
On February 27 2022, Gusti Purbaya was inaugurated as crown prince in a ceremony to commemorate the 18th ascension to the throne or Tingalan dalem Jumenengan Sampeyan dalem Ingkang Sinuhun Kanjeng Susuhunan (SISKS) Pakubuwono XIII.

He explained that KGPAA Hamangkunegoro (Gusti Purbaya) was encouraged to speak out regarding the adulterated fuel case.
“This was done because of our love for this nation. Yesterday I saw that it wasn’t just us, yes, there were several expressions from young people. Expressions using the communication language of young people,” said the Sasana Wilapa Karaton Surakarta Hadiningrat Organizer.
