Sumardji stated that this situation was the reason why PSSI was reluctant to clearly explain the names of the prospective coaches for the Indonesian National Team.
“I need to explain to my colleagues regarding these five names why they have not been opened until now and we will not open them yet. We respect the privacy of each head coach,” said Sumardji in a press conference at the GBK Arena, Jakarta, Thursday (20/11).

“Secondly, these coaches are still at the club and are also in the national team of a country. So it is impossible for us to open,” he added.
Even though he has not been able to reveal the name of the candidate for the Indonesian National Team coach, Sumardji said that his party will immediately conduct interviews with the names who are included in the list of candidates.
“Regarding these five coaches, Mr. Alexander [PSSI Technical Director] together with the Executive Members [Exco], one of whom I was asked to do an interview and we will do it in the next weeks,” said Sumardji.
Currently, the Indonesian national team coach is still a question mark after Patrick Kluivert separated after failing to reach the 2026 World Cup. However, names have been circulating wildly on social media.
Some of them are the coach from Uzbekistan, Timur Kapadze and the coach from Spain, Jesus Casas.
