“The buildings that were demolished included dimly lit stalls, kiosks and other business buildings that violated space utilization regulations,” he said.
The activity involved 500 personnel who were deployed to secure and support enforcement operations. They consist of Satpol PP officers, elements of the TNI/Polri, the Transportation Service, PLN, Perum Jasa Tirta, the Highways Service and the South Cikarang and Central Cikarang District Governments.
Officers deployed two units of heavy equipment to dismantle the illegal buildings. All stages of this control have also been carried out in accordance with applicable operational procedures and standards.
“We have carried out the complete stages, starting from the appeal to the first, second and third warnings. Apart from that, we have previously carried out raids on community diseases in Kalimalang and indications of prostitution practices have been proven,” he said.
He ensured that all enforcement activities were carried out through a good and humanistic communication approach but still prioritizing firmness in enforcing the rules.
“We emphasize to members to take a humanist approach, communicate well, but remain firm in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said.
Surya admitted that this control activity did not target buildings on the south side or sporadically along the road, but specifically buildings on the Kalimalang banks.
“We are focusing this control on buildings located on the edge of the Kalimalang river. At that location there are many dimly lit stalls which indicate prostitution activity so we need to control them,” he said.
After this control, his party will immediately coordinate with Perum Jasa Tirta (PJT) regarding the condition of the fences along the riverbanks that are damaged or broken.
“Later we will coordinate with PJT for further handling. We will also report to the leadership regarding the results of activities and further use of space so that the stalls are not rebuilt,” he said.
