PT Sultan Rafli Mandiri (
SRM
) questioned the existence of TNI law enforcement in the area
gold mine
in Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan which is suspected to be controlled illegally.
PT SRM Director Li Changjin asked this question following the alleged attack on TNI members by dozens of Chinese workers last Sunday (14/12).
“Why is it that the TNI is involved in occupying a mine that is suspected of being controlled illegally, when the case is still being litigated at the PTUN and is being investigated by the National Police Criminal Investigation Unit,” said Li Changjin in a written statement, Tuesday (16/12).

Even so, Li Changjin confirmed that there were foreign nationals (WNA) from China as technical staff who operated drones in the mining area. However, the company denied that its workers attacked TNI members from Combat Engineer Battalion 6/Satya Digdaya (Yonzipur 6/SD).
“This is not a military area or a prohibited area. Why are you not allowed to fly drones in your own mining area? So there are parties who don’t like it, foreigners who operate drones until finally their drones and cellphones are confiscated,” he stressed.
Li Changjin explained that the technical staff’s equipment, in the form of drones and cellphones, were confiscated and the drone footage was deleted by the TNI, and then returned.
“At the time of the incident, our technical staff were even in a state of fear because their drones and cellphones were immediately confiscated by them. Who is not afraid of the army, but what are their interests there? We also don’t know,” said Li Changjin.
Furthermore, Li Changjin emphasized that Imran Kurniawan, who claimed to be PT SRM’s Chief Security Officer, was not part of the company.Imran was accused of being an irresponsible party who wanted to control and operate the gold mining facilities.
“Imran Kurniawan and his gang are being investigated by Bareskrim Polri, suspected of carrying out illegal occupation by making fake articles of association and fake registration at the Directorate General of AHU. He is not a PT SRM staff or officer,” he added.
He revealed that the Chinese foreigner was deliberately isolated and prevented by Imran from entering the company area.
Then, Li Changjin also denied the accusation of carrying sharp weapons, in the form of an airsoft gun and a stun gun because there was no clear evidence.
“This Chinese SRM staff has never committed any illegal acts, including damaging SUVs and has never carried illegal weapons,” he explained.
Previously, the Indonesian Army revealed the chronology of the attack carried out by 15 foreign nationals (WNA) from China against 4 members of the Zipur 6/SD Battalion, in Ketapang, West Kalimantan.
Kapendam XII/Tanjungpura, Colonel Inf Eko Wardono said that this incident occurred on Sunday (14/12) at PT SRM when Unit Training was being carried out.
Eko explained that at that time members who were training received information from security forces if drones were seen flying around the training area.
“Then the members gave chase and went to the location of the person operating the drone. It turned out that the drone was being operated by 4 foreigners from Beijing,” he explained in a written statement, Tuesday (16/12).
He said that at that time the members tried to ask for information from the four foreigners regarding the reasons for the drone flight. However, Eko said that suddenly 11 other foreigners appeared and immediately attacked the members with sharp weapons, airsoft guns and stun guns.
Eko explained that due to the unbalanced conditions, the members immediately returned to the company area to avoid the worst possibility. He confirmed that there were no casualties or injuries to TNI members in the incident.
“The motive for the attack and drone flight is still being investigated. Material losses resulting from the attack were in the form of heavy damage to 1 Hilux company car and 1 Vario motorbike belonging to a PT SRM employee,” he concluded.
