Indonesia (PMI) plantation sector.
Trust was gained after BP3MI and the Lampung Agricultural Training Center (BAPELTAN) designated Rejosari Gardens, Regional VII, as a field practice location for training in modern palm oil cultivation.
The training, which was held some time ago, was attended by hundreds of participants who were prepared to work on oil palm plantations in Malaysia.

The training material covers cultivation stages from upstream to downstream, starting from seeds, land preparation, planting, plant maintenance, fertilization, to harvest techniques and crop management. All sessions are carried out in the form of direct practice so that participants become familiar with the actual work process on oil palm plantations.
PTPN IV President Director Jatmiko K. Santosa stated that this activity was part of the company’s efforts to support the preparation of Indonesian workers who have competencies according to industry needs.
“The oil palm plantation sector continues to need skilled workers. Through this collaboration, participants get a direct overview of work standards and operational processes in large-scale oil palm plantations,” said Jatmiko in his statement.
He added that providing a garden area as a place for field practice aims to provide real experience for participants before entering the world of international work.
“We hope that the basic knowledge gained at the PTPN IV plantation can help participants adapt more quickly when serving in the destination country,” he added.
On a separate occasion, SEVP Operation PTPN IV explained that the training was designed to introduce plantation work systems that prioritize safety, efficiency and accuracy.
“The participants were introduced to operational flow, plantation work structure, as well as risks that need to be considered in the work,” he said.
Widyaiswara BAPELTAN Lampung Suhadi Saptoyo appreciated the ongoing collaboration. He assessed that field practice provides added value for participants, especially because the plantation sector abroad places great emphasis on technical skills that can be accounted for.
“Practical knowledge is an important provision for PMI candidates. Participants can see firsthand how work is carried out in the field, including safety standards and how to work according to procedures,” he said.
BP3MI and BAPELTAN assess this training as relevant to the increasing demand for plantation workers in Malaysia and other countries that rely on foreign workers in the palm oil sector.
This training program is expected to help prospective PMIs adapt to the demands of the global palm oil industry. With a practice-based approach, participants gain initial experience of working conditions on large-scale plantations so they can prepare themselves before leaving for their destination country.
The activity in Rejosari closed with a discussion session between participants and field instructors, which provided a space for participants to confirm technical matters, understand work culture, and build readiness to face the challenges of working abroad.
It is hoped that this collaboration between PTPN IV, BP3MI and BAPELTAN will continue to ensure the preparation of competent human resources ready to compete in the international plantation sector.
