emphasized the planned meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and PDIP Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri was not related to the issue of cabinet reshuffle.
Puan denied that the plan of the second meeting was interpreted as a sign of PDIP to be included in the Prabowo-Gibran government coalition.According to him the PDIP relations with Prabowo’s government had been close from the beginning.
“From the beginning it was close like brother and sister,” he told reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex, Sunday (8/17).
Puan also dismissed the issue that said PDIP would join the coalition after entering the red and white cabinet after the reshuffle process was carried out.
“PDIP has stated that we will support President Prabowo’s administration in developing the nation and state,” he said.
“And will continue all programs to carry out the vision of President Prabowo so that the benefits can be as much as possible for the people,” he added.
Previously Puan said there would be a meeting between Prabowo and Megawati in the near future.
Puan did not reveal further the date of the meeting from the two figures but he said he did not rule out the possibility of being carried out next week.
“Maybe as soon as possible. (Next week) maybe, because the president’s schedule in the framework of the 17s is still crowded,” he said.
Megawati was not present at the proclamation seconds ceremony at the Merdeka Palace, on Sunday (8/17) today.The ceremony at the palace was only attended by the 6th Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and the 7th Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
Megawati’s absence was because the 5th President of Indonesia led a special ceremony at the PDIP party school in Lenteng Agung, South Jakarta.
Megawati’s absence became the second since 2024. She was last present at the Palace at the 78th Indonesian Independence Day commemoration ceremony in 2023.
