Ri Puan Maharani alluded to a number of phenomena ranging from dark Indonesia to the One Piece flag in his speech at the MPR Annual Session, Friday (15/8).
Puan said the phenomenon showed the existence of public unrest that was delivered in the language of his day.
“The phrase can be in the form of short sentences such as running away, Indonesia’s dark satire, the political jokes of the Konoha country, to new symbols such as the One Piece flag, and many more that spread widely in the digital space,” Puan said.
“This phenomenon shows that the aspirations and unrest of the people are now conveyed in the language of their own time,” he added.
Puan said that folk voices were not just words or pictures.According to him, behind every word there is a message.Behind each message there is an unrest and behind the unrest there is hope.
“Therefore, what is demanded from all of us is wisdom. Wisdom to not only hear, but also understands. Wisdom to not only respond, but respond with a clear heart and open mind,” he said.
He hopes that whatever the form and contents of the criticism conveyed by the people will not become embers that burned brotherhood.
“Criticism must not be a fire that divides the nation. Conversely, criticism must be a light that illuminates our way together,” he said.
