“In the early hours of Tuesday, November 4 2025, the North Sumatra Police’s Narcotics Directorate together with elements of the TNI carried out a joint raid at Helen Nightlife (THM), Medan City. This activity is a form of North Sumatra Police’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse in nightlife venues,” he explained.
From the results of this activity, the joint team checked the visitors’ luggage and carried out urine tests on 37 suspected people. As a result, 36 people were negative, while the Deputy Chair of the Simeulue DPRK, Aceh Province, Andri Setiawan, tested positive for amphetamine/methamphetamine.
Furthermore, the results of the interrogation showed that Andri Setiawan admitted that he had consumed ecstasy on Saturday, November 1 2025. From his initial identity, Andri Setiawan never mentioned or showed his status as Deputy Chair of the Simeulue DPRK.
“Members in the field did not know the person concerned as a member of the DPRK. Based on the KTP, it was written that he was self-employed, so the handling was carried out purely in accordance with applicable legal procedures,” explained Ferry.
Meanwhile, the Director of Narcotics Research at the North Sumatra Regional Police, Police Commissioner Andy Arisandi, explained that before the rehabilitation process is carried out for narcotics users, an assessment is carried out by the medical and legal teams to determine the form and duration of rehabilitation.
“Before the rehabilitation process for victims or users, an assessment is first carried out. From the results of the assessment, recommendations emerge – whether a person is rehabilitated or not,” he explained.
“The form of rehabilitation will be adjusted by the medical team, whether in the form of outpatient or inpatient treatment, and how long the treatment process will take. All decisions are within the authority of the medical assessment team,” he added.
Andy also added that initial identification of Andri Setiawan was carried out based on the KTP brought during the raid. After the information develops, further searches will be carried out to confirm his identity.
“We have handed over the person concerned to a rehabilitation institution according to procedures. This proves that the entire series of actions was carried out objectively and in accordance with legal regulations,” he explained.
