Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) General Executive KH Miftachul Akhyar emphasized that Yahya Cholil Staquf (
Gus Yahya
) will no longer serve as general chairman of PBNU since November 26 2025 at 00.45 WIB.
According to Miftach, Gus Yahya no longer has the authority or right to use the attributes of general chairman.
This was conveyed by Miftach
after the meeting between Rais Aam PBNU and Syuriah PBNU and 36 PWNU which was held at the PWNU office in East Java, Surabaya, Saturday (29/11).

Here’s the full statement:
1. That as of November 26 2025 at 00.45 WIB KH Yahya Cholil Staquf no longer has the status of PBNU General Chairman, so he has no right to use attributes and does not have the authority as PBNU general chairman.And since then, the leadership of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board has been completely in the hands of Rais Aam.
2. That the background and considerations as stated in the Minutes of the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting are truly in accordance with the actual facts and conditions, and there are no other motives or backgrounds other than those stated in the minutes of the meeting.
3. That to ensure the normal running of the organization, a plenary meeting or congress will be held in the near future.
4. After observing the dynamics in society, including various information and opinions in mainstream media and social media, we pay special attention.
Next, to obtain the validity of this various information, we will
assign a fact-finding team to carry out a complete and in-depth investigation into various information developing in society.
Deputy Rais Aam PBNU KH Anwar Iskandar and KH Afifuddin Muhajir will be the directors of the fact-finding team.
5. To ensure that the fact-finding team can carry out its duties well, we specifically order the implementation of the PBNU Level Letters Digdaya to be suspended until the investigation process is completed.Meanwhile, the implementation of the PWNU and PCNU Level Letters Digdaya can still run as it should.
6. That in accordance with the values of the Nahdlatul Ulama Khittah, it is very important for all parties to prioritize common interests over personal interests, as well as upholding moral nobility (al-akhlaq al-karimah), and upholding honesty (ash-shidqu) in thinking, behaving and acting.
