PSSI officially ended its collaboration with Patrick Kluivert early following the Indonesian national team’s failure to qualify for the 2026 World Cup on October 16.
As a further step, PSSI claims to have received five potential coaches to handle the Garuda squad.

However, as of Thursday (20/11), the federation had not yet revealed the names on their radar.
This condition has made the Indonesian football public curious, especially fans of the Indonesian National Team worried because the previously appointed coach was deemed not to have met expectations.
Responding to this, Sumardji provided an explanation of the reasons why PSSI is still keeping the names of the five prospective coaches for the Indonesian National Team a secret.
“So friends, why haven’t any of the names been opened? I need to explain that regarding these five names, why have we not opened them until now, and we won’t open them yet,” said Sumardji.
He emphasized that this decision was related to professional ethics, because several candidates for the Indonesian National Team coach currently still have contracts with clubs and national teams from other countries.
“One, we respect that each head coach has privacy. Second, these coaches are still at the club and still in the national team of a country. It is impossible for us to open up,” added Sumardji.
Even though the official name has not been announced, a number of names are rumored to be candidates for the Indonesian National Team coach.Two names rumored to be candidates for the Indonesian National Team coach are Jesus Casas and Timur Kapadze.
