inaugurated the Kabanaran Bridge, Wednesday (19/11), which was greeted with emotion and enthusiasm by local residents who witnessed it.
The strategic bridge that connects the southern region of DIY in Kulon Progo Regency with Bantul Regency, is now officially operational and has become important infrastructure on the Java South Coast (Pansela) route.
For residents living in the surrounding area, Prabowo’s presence, which also inaugurated this bridge, was a highly anticipated moment.

One of them is Isnoviani, a resident of Bantengan, Brosot, Galur, Kulon Progo.He did not expect to see the number one person in Indonesia in person.
“Thank you, Mr. President, for visiting here and inaugurating this bridge. All the residents here are very happy to be able to meet Mr. President. They can see Mr. President directly,” he said when met at the location.
Isnoviani, who crosses the area every day, feels great benefits from the presence of the Banaran Bridge.
He described how this new road shortened the travel time for residents, especially motorists who had to make a long detour via the coastal route.
“In my opinion, this road can really help. Those who didn’t go this way at first continued around to the beach and now there is one route,” said Isnoviani.
For residents, the presence of this bridge is not only about shorter distances, but also convenience and new economic opportunities.With faster access to Bantul and coastal areas in the east, the long-term impact on community movement and the tourism sector is expected to be very significant.
“There are many benefits, apart from being fast, comfortable, you can go anywhere. Yes, the economy is quite good on this bridge. It connects Kulon Progo and Bantul. If you go to the east, there are lots of beaches. So, one way is possible, you can go to any beach,” he explained.
Prabowo inaugurated the use of the Kabanaran Bridge which connects the southern region of DIY, namely Kulonprogo Regency with Bantul Regency, as well as becoming strategic infrastructure on the Java South Coast (Pansela) route.
The presence of this bridge is projected to facilitate transportation flows, reduce congestion and open up opportunities for economic growth in the southern region of Java.
Not only superior structurally, the Kabanaran Bridge also combines cultural elements through mountain elements, joglo houses and batik motifs in its architectural design.
The Kabanaran Bridge won the MURI record as the longest bridge in Yogyakarta which uses corrugated steel material or steel sheets formed in waves to increase its strength and stiffness.
