The World Indonesian Student Association (PPI) strongly condemned the actions of Brimob who ranled the online motorcycle taxi driver (Ojol)

“The world’s PPI condemned acts of violence committed by the police which resulted in the death of Ojol Driver Affan Kurniawan after being killed by Rantis Brimob in the incident in Pejompongan, Jakarta, on Thursday, August 28, 2025,” said the World PPI in Instagram Story today, Friday (29/8).
PPI World is a combination of a number of student organizations abroad.At present, they already have 65 PPI members who are divided into three regions.In the American-European region there were 31 PPI, the Middle East-Africa 19 PPI region, and the Asian-Oceania 15 PPI State region.
In the official statement, the World PPI also said that one civilian died due to the path of violence by the authorities, in the efforts of the Indonesian people to issue their demands for social justice and democracy.
They then urged the Indonesian government to thoroughly investigate this humanitarian tragedy and ask for democracy in favor of the people.
“And also to realize social justice for all Indonesian people, which not only benefit the elite,” continued PPI World.
On Thursday, residents from various elements held a demonstration.The mass of action strongly criticized the DPR’s policy later.One of the most highlighted is the matter of home allowances for members of the DPR.
The demonstration in the DPR went chaos.The clash between the mass of the action and the apparatus was inevitable.So far, one person was killed by a tactical vehicle and 38 suffered injuries.
The tactical vehicle incident ran over Affan was recorded in video and circulated on social media.He was reportedly working to deliver food when the incident occurred.
Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri has confirmed the incident.While the National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo asked his staff to immediately take the steps needed to follow up on this case.
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto also expressed disappointment due to excessive officers’ actions.He then asked for a thorough investigation related to the incident.
