Rizki confirmed the information about his appointment and explained that it was a dream come true.
“Thank God, I was appointed second lieutenant. Actually, I didn’t [dream of becoming a TNI] when I was little. I probably started to feel like I liked the police and the TNI when I was 17 years old or older. There was also no one in my family who [became] an officer. I just wish one of my parents’ children wanted to be a weightlifter, so that would also make a future career,” explained Rizki.
Rizki’s father, Muhammad Yasin, had the desire to see his son become an officer. That is also the impetus for Rizki to make his father happy, who died in mid-October 2024.
When his father was still alive, Rizki received an offer to join the police. This plan failed because Rizki was busy as an athlete who had to prepare to appear in various big events, including the Olympics.
“Before he died, right before the Olympics too. Only at that time there were three times. The former Banten Regional Police Chief was offered the Police Academy but couldn’t be given relief. For four years he had to remain [active]. Meanwhile, during that time I had to prepare for the Olympics. That’s why I couldn’t. I was abandoned three times, thank God for my current fortune,” explained Rizki.
After receiving information regarding his appointment as second lieutenant, the athlete who won a gold medal at the 2024 Olympics had a simple but meaningful desire to fulfill his father’s dream.
“Thank God it happened, maybe on the date I am inaugurated, I will go to my father’s grave wearing a uniform,” he said.
Regarding his future activities as an athlete and TNI officer, Rizki believes that everything can be done simultaneously because he will be assigned to a place that has been the location for the national training camp (Pelatnas) for weightlifting athletes, namely on Jalan Kwini, Senen, Central Jakarta.
“God willing, placement in Kwini. So I am flexible with my training time and days. Monday to Friday here, Saturday-Sunday at home. And everything can be seen. Because if I’m still in weightlifting, I’ll still be given relief until I retire from weightlifting,” said Rizki.
