, Moscow’s court service announced this ruling following a previous court ruling last September.
At that time, five members of the group were sentenced to prison sentences of up to 13 years
in absentia
after being found guilty of spreading lies about Russian soldiers.
Members of the group, dubbed ‘foreign agents’ by authorities, reject all accusations which they say are politically motivated.
All members of the band are outside Russia. The name Pussy Riot became known internationally in 2012.
At the time, its members were jailed for protesting against Russian President Vladimir Putin at a Russian Orthodox cathedral in Moscow.
Since then, the band has become a symbol of anti-Kremlin protests.Pussy Riot has also become increasingly vocal against President Vladimir Putin’s government following Moscow’s invasion of Ukraine since 2022.
The group’s founder, Nadya Tolokonnikova, is now in the United States and is being sought for her arrest by Russian authorities.
Last month, Tolokonnikova opposed Russia’s efforts to label her band an extremist organization.
“If telling the truth is extremism, then we are happy to be extremists,” he wrote in X.
