hit infrastructure in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk early Sunday, triggering power, water and heating outages in several areas, according to Mayor Vitalii Maletskyi.
Kremenchuk, a large industrial city on the banks of the Dnipro River that is home to one of Ukraine’s largest oil refineries, was again targeted. The city has been repeatedly attacked since the invasion began, including an attack on a shopping mall in 2022 that killed at least 21 people.

Through posts on social media, Maletskyi said details of the impact of the attack would be announced after the damage assessment process was complete. He confirmed that city services were working to restore electricity, water and heating supplies in the affected districts.
Russia is increasingly stepping up long-range attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure ahead of winter. The strategy is believed to be aimed at weakening public morale and disrupting the industrial sector, after the previous winter saw widespread blackouts and emergency energy arrangements as the war nearly entered its fourth year.
Photos published by Maletskyi show huge flames engulfing industrial buildings at night.
“We will restore everything,” he wrote.
Reuters has not been able to independently verify the report.Meanwhile, the Ukrainian Air Force warned several times via Telegram that Kremenchuk was under threat from Russian drone and missile attacks throughout the night.
