This statement was made by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov in an interview with state television station Rossiya on Sunday (7/12).

He added that the change in US national security strategy could even open up opportunities for negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine.
“And, perhaps, we can hope that this will be a simple guarantee that we can continue to cooperate constructively to find a peaceful solution in Ukraine,” Peskov said.
Previously, President Donald Trump released the National Security Strategy (NSS) document on Thursday (4/12).The 33-page document, known as the Trump Corollary, contains the Trump administration’s views on US foreign policy.
Through this document, Trump emphasized the US’s desire to maintain a larger military presence in the Western Hemisphere to combat drugs and confront hostile forces.
The document also contains sharp criticism of Europe, which is said to be in decline and paying little attention to the situation in the Middle East and Africa.
In the NSS document, the US also emphasized its commitment to prevent war in the Indo-Pacific region amidst increasing tensions between China and a number of countries, including the US, Japan and the Philippines.
“We will also maintain our long-standing declarative policy regarding Taiwan, namely that the United States does not support any unilateral changes to the status quo in the Taiwan Strait,” the statement said.
