In response, an official White House representative issued an openly aggressive statement using Sabrina Carpenter’s Manchild lyrics.
“Here’s a short and sweet message to Sabrina Carpenter: We will not apologize for deporting illegal murderers, rapists and dangerous criminal pedophiles from our country,” he said.
“Anyone who defends these sick monsters
must be stupid, or is it slow
?”
It all started after an official government video circulated featuring Carpenter’s song, Juno, with the viral lyric “Have you ever tried this one?”followed by images of ICE agents chasing, tackling and handcuffing civilians.

Carpenter later condemned the act, calling it a gross abuse of his work and something he never approved of.
The two-time Grammy winner responded to the White House video posted on X, saying, “This video is evil and disgusting. Don’t ever implicate me or my music to benefit your inhumane agenda.”
Carpenter is not alone in this struggle. In recent weeks, Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift have also been targets of the White House’s unauthorized use of songs in politically charged videos.
In Rodrigo’s case, the official Instagram accounts of the Department of Homeland Security and the White House posted a video encouraging illegal immigrants to leave the US voluntarily, using Rodrigo’s song “all-american bitch” as the soundtrack.
The Filipino-American singer condemned the use of his song, replying, “Don’t ever use my song to promote your racist and hateful propaganda.”The song was later removed from the video.
In the case of Swift, a longtime cultural figure and former Trump critic, the White House used the song The Fate of Ophelia in a patriotic TikTok celebrating the president’s agenda, calling it “The Fate of America.”
Although Swift did not respond publicly, other artists such as Carpenter and Rodrigo have clearly rejected the misuse of their work for political purposes.
Their objections highlight a growing problem for musicians, as their creative work is turned into political propaganda without their consent, and often for the purpose of stripping the art of its original meaning and not aligning with the artist’s views or values.
Meanwhile, for Carpenter, this situation occurred at the peak of his career. The singer is fresh off a stellar year with her chart-topping album Short n’ Sweet, multiple Grammy nominations and a hugely successful world tour.
Carpenter has become one of the most recognizable voices in Hollywood, and with his influence growing, his refusal to remain silent has never been louder.
Music used without context or permission has the power to change public opinion, and, in this case, link a beloved artist to highly stressful immigration policies and violent arrest scenes.
For many fans, Sabrina Carpenter’s objections go beyond copyright;it is a moral stance.
