Said Aqil made this statement while attending a gathering at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang, East Java, Saturday (6/12).He suggested that the concession be returned to the government to avoid worse harm for Nahdliyyin residents.

“From the start, I respected the government’s initiative. It was a good form of appreciation,” said Said Aqil, quoted from the site

“But looking at what’s happened recently, the conflict is getting wider, and that’s bringing
disadvantage
which outweighs the benefits.”So the best way is to return it to the government,” he added.
Said Aqil said that NU is a big house that should not be dragged into affairs that cause chaos and tarnish the organization’s leadership.
Therefore, he said, if one case brings more harm, it should be abandoned.He wants NU to return to focusing on its sacred duties.
“If a matter brings more harm, then leave it. Return it so that NU can focus on its sacred duties,” he said.
Asked for a response regarding this proposal, Acting General Chairperson of Tanfidziyah PBNU Zulfa Mustofa was tight-lipped.After the plenary meeting to determine himself, Zulfa said the proposal would be discussed.
“We’ll discuss it later,” said Zulfa briefly.
