With Buriram United add to a long list of Indonesian national team players who have a career in the Thai League.
In fact there is no official information from the departure and arrival of Sandy from Yokohama F Marinos to Buriram United.It’s just that Sandy’s name has been registered with the Thai League operator.
If Sandy officially joined Buriram, he would be the 15th player of the Indonesian national team who was active in Thailand.And, the number of this season is the most in history.
The first Indonesian player to defend the Thai club was Victor Igbonefo.The center back player defended Chiangrai United in 2012 on loan from Pelita Jaya.
When taking part in the Thai League, Igbonefo has become an Indonesian citizen (WNI).The Nigerian -born player underwent an oath of loyalty as an Indonesian citizen on October 10, 2011.
The following year it was Irfan Bachdim’s turn to work in Thailand.He defended Chonburi FC.Bachdim migrated to Thailand because at that time there was dualism of competition in Indonesia.
Successively after that other players came to Thailand, such as Sergio Van Dijk, Greg Nwokolo, Titus Bonai, Yanto Basna, and Ryuji Utomo.There are also Tool Ferre and Terens Puhiri.
The names that play in Thailand are apparently satisfying.That is why Asnawi Mangkualam, Pratama Arhan, Ronaldo Kwateh, and Meshaal Hamzah were brought in.
This season, Buriram brought Shayne Pattynama and then Sandy Walsh.This means that there are currently four Indonesian players in Thailand, namely Asnawi, Arhan, Shayne, and Sandy.
This is the highest number of Indonesian players in Thailand.Usually there are only two or three players and this season there are four.In total there are already 15 Indonesian players who have a career in Thailand.
