School Building Project Worth IDR 2.54 Billion in Takalar Collapses

The building, which was being renovated using a budget of IDR 2.54 billion, collapsed on Monday (3/11) at around 18.00 WIB.
“At that location, the 2nd floor plate was cast. Well, there is work to build classrooms for Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Negeri 2 Takalar with 3 classrooms,” said Head of the Goods and Services Procurement Team for the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religion, South Sulawesi, Supriyadi Alwi, Friday (7/11).

This incident occurred when casting was carried out in stages on three segments of the second floor of the building.
“Casting was carried out in stages for segments one, two and three. Well, while casting segments one and two, it suddenly collapsed. But thank God, the third segment is safe to this day,” he said.
Supriyadi said there were no casualties in the incident, one worker suffered minor injuries.
“There were no fatalities in this incident. Only one worker suffered minor injuries due to a fall, but is now reported to have recovered and returned to work,” he said.
Due to this incident, the police have carried out an inspection which shows that the technical specifications and work procedures have been implemented according to standards.
The parties involved in the school construction process admitted that they had carried out the work according to operational standards, including the gradual casting method from beams to floor plates.
“All three stated that the specifications and SOPs had been strictly implemented. To date, we have not found the location of the technical error that caused the building to collapse,” he explained.
The incident, Supriyadi said, did not disrupt the construction schedule.
After cleaning up the debris and technical evaluation, construction work continued by re-erecting the new support columns.This project is still targeted for completion in December 2025, according to the original schedule.
The construction of the two-story classroom used State Sharia Securities (SBSN) funds worth IDR 2.54 billion.In total there are six learning classrooms and supporting facilities such as toilets and hallways.
“Because this is a national priority program in the education sector, the completion target in December must still be achieved,” he said.
