Yosep Anggi Noen
announced his latest film project, Laut Bercerita, based on the novel of the same title by Leila Chudori, which will be broadcast in 2026.
In an upload on Instagram on Tuesday (2/12), Anggi showed a photo of a scene from the film, starring Reza Rahadian and Eva Celia.

“The Sea Tells a Story. 2026 on screen,” wrote Anggi Noen.
The director from Yogyakarta also announced the project in the Jogja-NETPAC Asian Film Festival (JAFF) Market 2025 series on Monday (1/12).
This film was produced by PAL8 Pictures, Visual Media Studio, Jagartha, Lynx Films, and Brandlink.Gita Fara will sit as a producer in this film.
Apart from Reza and Eva, Laut Bercerita will star Yunita Siregar, Dian Sastrowardoyo, Christine Hakim, and Arswendy Beningswara.

on Monday (1/12), this film, which is adapted from the best-selling novel by Leila Chudori, will contain a political drama set during the New Order era, as well as a woman’s struggle to find clarity about her brother’s fate.

Set in the ’90s, Anggi Noen is said to combine poetry, memories and political sorrow in a story that examines an important chapter of Indonesian history.
Variety said that in this film, Anggi Noen made Laut Bercerita with the aim of being a broad, politically resonant drama film.
Released in October 2017, the novel Laut Bercerita features two main characters, Biru Laut Wibisono and his younger sister Asmara Jati.
Biru Laut were students from the 1990s who later joined a movement that was considered to be against the government regime at that time.He was on the run because of this activity and then went to prison.

Meanwhile, Asmara Jati tried to find the whereabouts of her brother and a number of other missing students for several years.
This novel was actually made in the form of a short film, also starring Reza Rahadian and Dian Sastrowardoyo in 2017. Apart from Reza and Dian, the short film, which was worked on by Pritagita Arianegara, also starred Ayushita, Tio Pakusadewo, Tanta Ginting, and Lukman Sardi.
Meanwhile, Laut Bercerita will be Yosep Anggi Noen’s latest film after working on 24 Hours with Gaspar in 2023 and Ransom of Sins in 2024.
