The number of Indonesian athletes competing in
SEA Games 2025
experienced a jump from 996 to 1,021 people.
The increase in the number of athletes occurred due to the addition of numbers being competed, specifically in the sports of athletics, cycling and fencing.

Chairman of the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) Raja Sapta Oktohari expressed his thanks to Erick and his staff who provided support for sending athletes to compete in the new numbers added.
“In terms of additions, it looks like there are bicycles, so there are additional numbers from the 2025 Thailand SEA Games. We thank the Minister of Youth and Sports and the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, because at this time the changes included three sports, athletics, cycling and fencing, and we received support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports, which from 996 athletes, to today it has been added to 1,021 athletes,” explained Okto.
Erick then stated that support for adding athletes was related to budget and targets.
“Yes, we give the best, one of the best. One of the best, the Ministry of Youth and Sports is combing our budget as much as possible and sending as many results as possible to win as many medals as possible.”
“Well, 80 gold is the target. But are we satisfied with 80 gold or silver? No, we want to see the best. So don’t reverse the paradigm. Instead, we give the best, we do our best to get the best number,” said Erick.
