The document, called the “Overmatch Brief,” was created by the Pentagon think-tank, the Office of Net Assessment, and submitted to the White House recently.

China’s rapidly expanding arsenal puts US forces at a serious operational disadvantage in the region.

“Ford is particularly vulnerable to new forms of attack,” the report said.
The files also show that the US’s reliance on sophisticated and expensive weapons makes the country vulnerable to cheaper and more rapidly produced weapons by China.

Reports also show China has developed the capability to neutralize key American assets early in a conflict.
The document became a topic of conversation after Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun warned the US to “handle the Taiwan issue with extreme caution.”
The Taiwan issue has become a source of hostility between the US and China.The island wants to become independent from China.However, the Beijing-based government has repeatedly emphasized that it will defend Taiwan by force if necessary.
The US has often demonstrated provocative actions under the pretext of freedom of navigation.
