The video circulating shows the man coming from behind Sheinbaum and immediately embracing and touching her breasts.
Not only did he touch her, in front of a crowd of residents, the man took the opportunity to try to kiss Sheinbaum.
Sheinbaum tried to push the man’s hand away before a member of his staff stepped between them.
“If this happens to the president, what will happen to all the young women in our country?”said Mexico’s first female president.
“No man has the right to abuse a woman’s personal space.”

Meanwhile, National Citizen Observatory on Femicide, Ana Yeli Perez, said the harassment of Sheinbaum put the issue of violence against women on the national agenda.

Apparently, the man was also reported to have harassed another woman on the same street.
Local media learned the man who attacked Sheinbaum was Uriel Rivera, and state security reports indicated he was arrested on Tuesday (4/11) at 9 p.m. local time
After the perpetrator of the violence was arrested, Sheinbaum filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General of Mexico City.
Sheinbaum said sexual harassment should be a “punishable criminal offense.”
She has also asked Mexico’s Ministry of Women’s Empowerment to conduct a review of the laws in each state.
