A number of platforms
e-commerce
(electronic commerce) such as Shopee, Tokopedia, TikTok and Lazada Indonesia are committed to fulfilling
prohibition
sales
imported used clothing
at their stall. The way to do this is by taking down or lowering all the links that sell the product.
This was conveyed by representatives of each company when summoned and the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), at the Smesco Building, Jakarta, Friday (7/11).
In this meeting, the Ministry of MSMEs was represented by Deputy for Small Business Temmy Satya Permana who was attended by the Head of IDEA, Hilmi Adrianto;Deputy of Public Affairs Shopee Indonesia, Radynal Nataprawira;Lazada Indonesia Vice President Government Affairs, Yovan Sudarma;and Tokopedia’s Lead of Public Policy, Richard Anggoro.

“The point is that we want to synergize and collaborate, that the platform must comply with the regulations that we have mutually agreed upon. In this case, we ask that the platform can discipline sellers who are still selling goods that are not allowed. For example, in this case, used imported clothes,” said Temmy in a press conference.
The prohibition on selling imported used clothing or thrifting in e-commerce is already prohibited in the Minister of Trade Regulation 31 of 2023 concerning licensing, advertising, guidance and supervision of business actors in trading via electronic systems (PMSE).
Shopee itself stated that it had carried out massive enforcement since the regulations were released.Products deemed to be in violation have begun to slowly be removed.
“From Shopee, we have been reducing imported used goods from 2023, in fact, from ballpress at that time, but it has evolved now, we continue to coordinate and the approach really has to be humanistic, because there are some sellers who put manipulative descriptions, so it’s a bit humanist, we are reducing them one by one,” said Radynal.
Tokopedia and TikTok also did the same thing. From the start, this platform has even set rules prohibiting the sale of imported used clothing.
“Our product listing policy on Tokopedia and TikTok Shop by Tokopedia prohibits the sale of used imported goods and if we find a product that violates it, we will immediately take it down,” explained Richard.
Likewise, Lazada stated that it was very committed to fulfilling all the regulations set by the government. Moreover, the aim is to create a fair and healthy digital ecosystem, protect consumers, and empower MSMEs.
“Lazada is committed to being a good partner for the government, especially today with the Ministry of MSMEs. Regarding today’s discussions and directions, Lazada will obey and comply with the regulations in force in Indonesia and will follow directions from the Ministry of MSMEs regarding imported used goods,” concluded Yovan.
