Flood
and landslides hit the city
Sibolga
, North Sumatra (North Sumatra) after high intensity rain in the last few days.Five people died and four other people are still being searched by the joint SAR team.
“The city of Sibolga was the area with the most severe impact. As many as five people died and 17 houses were badly damaged,” said Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Commissioner Pol Ferry Walintukan, Wednesday (26/11).
Ferry said the floods and landslides had occurred simultaneously since Monday (24/11).Landslides occurred at six points, including Rumah Uci Cafe, Bukit Aido, Budi Sehati Mosque, STPI Sibolga, SMPN 5 Sibolga and Kampung Paten Huta Tonga.

“The number of houses damaged was 17 units and three other people were injured,” he explained.
Not only in Sibolga City, currently the joint team is carrying out efforts to handle flood and landslide disasters in five other areas, namely Central Tapanuli, Mandailing Natal, South Tapanuli, North Tapanuli and Nias.
“Since the first report was received, the National Police immediately moved quickly to evacuate affected residents and regulate traffic flow at critical points,” he explained.
The North Sumatra Regional Police also deployed 4 SSK Brimob forces which were distributed to various areas.A number of SSTs are in vulnerable locations such as the Padang Sidempuan-Tarutung Cross Road, Parsalakan Village in Central Tapanuli, the Batujomba Batangtoru area, as well as the route to Sibolga which experiences many obstacles due to road conditions.
“The North Sumatra Regional Police are strengthening assistance by deploying 1 SST Samapta, 2 Dokkes Teams, and 1 IT Bid Team, as well as scheduling additional personnel. We urge the public to remain alert and immediately contact officers if they need assistance,” he said.
