According to him, the narrative that says Mirwan abandoned his people during the disaster is not correct.Mirwan and his wife are said to have been to flood-affected locations several times before going to the holy land.
The areas visited, said Denny, included the Trumon Raya and Bakongan Raya areas.Mirwan is said to have gone directly to deliver logistics to the affected areas.
“And ensuring that the community gets attention and assistance from the government directly without missing anything,” he said.
Denny said that refugees at a number of evacuation points have returned to their homes in recent days.
“Especially the affected areas are Central Trumon and East Trumon Districts, so there are no longer any people from the South Aceh region who are in refugee camps,” said Denny.
Previously, a statement letter had circulated from the Regent of South Aceh stating his inability to handle the disaster that had occurred.The letter was signed last November 27.The letter stated that 11 sub-districts in the area were flooded and much of the infrastructure was damaged.
Meanwhile, regarding Mirwan’s departure for Umrah in the midst of the disaster, the Aceh Provincial Government stated that Mualem had previously refused and did not grant the South Aceh Regent’s wish.
The request for permission to travel abroad was submitted by the Regent of South Aceh to Mualem on November 24 2025. However, Mualem did not grant it because at that time Aceh was being hit by a hydrometeorological natural disaster.
“The Governor has submitted a written reply that the request cannot be granted or rejected,” said Aceh Government Spokesperson, Muhammad MTA, this Friday.
Mualem assesses that South Aceh Regency is one of the areas seriously affected by floods and landslides.Therefore, Mualem will reprimand the Regent of South Aceh for being considered negligent and not heeding the letter of refusal to travel abroad.
“He (the Governor of Aceh) will reprimand the Regent of South Aceh,” he said.
