He explained that the construction of shelter houses involved the TNI-Polri Task Force, BNPB, and regional government (Pemda), with a coordinated division of tasks.
BNPB confirmed that in North Sumatra, the construction of shelter houses has been underway in several areas, including North Tapanuli which has completed one shelter unit with the concept of one house, one family.
Meanwhile, West Sumatra is listed as the province with the fastest progress in building shelter houses compared to the other two provinces.
For Aceh Province, Abdul revealed that of the 18 districts/cities affected by flash floods and landslides, six districts had designated shelter locations, including Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, Central Aceh, Gayo Luwes, Ben Meriah, and Bireun.
Then two others, namely East Aceh and Nagan Raya districts, also stated that they would build shelter houses, but are currently in the process of identifying the land.
“From there, some use local government land and others buy community land to ensure clarity of legal status,” he said.
Abdul hopes that the joint team of officers in the field will not encounter obstacles, especially from weather factors, so that efforts to accelerate the construction of temporary housing can be completed according to the target of at least early 2026 so that the lives of the affected communities can return to stability.
