on Saturday (29/11), after flash floods and landslides triggered by Cyclone Ditwah, killed 153 people and 191 people were missing.
The Disaster Management Center (DMC) reported the cyclone destroyed more than 20,000 homes.
As many as 108,000 residents are now taking refuge in temporary shelters.Additionally, nearly 800,000 people need assistance after having to leave their homes due to flooding.

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake activated a state of emergency, giving full authority to coordinate the handling of the disaster triggered by heavy rains during the week.
Among the victims who died were 11 residents of a nursing home in Kurunegala which was swept away by floodwaters on Saturday afternoon.Conditions in several areas are still isolated, such as Badulla, where roads are blocked by landslides and aid cannot reach the affected villages.
A massive rescue operation is underway.The Sri Lankan military was fully deployed to help trapped residents, including rescuing 69 bus passengers in a dramatic 24-hour operation.
In several villages, residents say they lack food and clean water.Electricity and water networks were cut off in almost a third of the country because vital facilities were damaged and submerged.
While Cyclone Ditwah is now moving towards India, the Sri Lankan government has appealed for international assistance.India became the first country to send emergency aid in the form of supplies, helicopters and rescue teams.
Authorities also warned of the risk of further flooding, especially along the Kelani River.Even though the rain has begun to subside in some areas, conditions in the north of the island are still worrying.
This disaster is the deadliest in Sri Lanka since 2017, when floods and landslides killed more than 200 residents.
