Meanwhile, Putri, a climber from Surabaya, said that her family had tried to contact her several times when the Semeru eruption occurred.His family panicked because he could not be contacted.The reason is, in Ranu Kumbolo there is no cellular signal, which cuts off communication access.
Finally, when he arrived at a location where there was already a signal, when he received all the messages, he admitted that he apologized to the family for causing panic.
“Many people have asked because the reports are confusing, because there were 178 climbers trapped, which made everyone at home panic, but it was difficult to get a signal, the family only informed me when they got off at post three. I apologize to the family,” said Putri, with tears in her eyes due to emotion.
As for the areas affected by the Semeru eruption, as of Friday (21/11), at least 499 residents in Lumajang Regency, East Java, were still displaced.Head of the East Java BPBD Emergency and Logistics Division, Satriyo Nurseno, said that most of them have now evacuated to a number of locations in Pronojiwo District.
“The total number of refugees is approximately 499 people, that is temporary data,” said Satriyo when confirmed.
