A medical organization
Sudan
accused the Rapid Support Forces of
RSF
) deliberately concealed evidence of mass killings in the Darfur region of western Sudan.
The Sudanese Doctors Network said the RSF collected hundreds of bodies from the streets of El Fasher, after seizing the area on October 26.They called what the RSF did “cannot be erased through concealment or arson”
“What happened in El-Fasher is not an isolated incident, but another part of the genocide carried out by the RSF in blatant violation of international and religious rules that prohibit the mutilation of corpses and guarantee the right to proper burial,” their statement said, quoted by Al Jazeera.

According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), as many as 82,000 of El-Fasher’s 260,000 residents have fled after the RSF seized the region from the Sudanese Armed Forces.
Al Jazeera journalist Hiba Morgan reported that people fleeing El-Fasher towards Al Dabbah in the north died on the way due to malnutrition, or gunshot wounds.
Morgan also reported that the refugees said they learned of their families’ deaths through videos on social media showing the killings by the RSF.This happened because of a communications blackout in the city, so many of them did not know the fate of their families.
“They believe that if their families are still alive in El-Fasher, they will not survive long because of a lack of food and water… or because the RSF targets people based on their ethnicity,” Morgan said.
Since April 2023, the RSF and the Sudanese military have been in conflict over territorial control. The RSF originates from the Arab-dominated pro-government “Janjaweed” militia, and was accused of committing genocide in Darfur 20 years ago.
From 2003 to 2008, around 300,000 people were killed and nearly 2.7 million others were displaced due to the group’s violence.
One of the doctors at Doctor Without Borders (MSF), Sylvain Penicaud, spoke to residents who fled to Tawila, saying many of them said they were attacked because of the color of their skin.
“The scariest thing for me is when civilians are hunted down while trying to save themselves; attacked because they are black,” Penicaud said.
A student from El-Fasher, Hassan Osman also explained that dark-skinned residents, especially those from the Zaghawa tribe, experienced racial insults, harassment and violence when they fled.
“If your skin color is lighter, they might let you go,” Osman said.
“This is really a tribal issue,” he added.
